New DB9 gets 510 BHP and carbon ceramic brakes as standard
Aston Martin has simplified its line-up, so there will be no more Virage or DBS. Instead, the best elements from the Virage have been included in the 2013 DB9, and customers looking for the ultimate performance Aston, will need to save up for a Vanquish.

In the words of product manager, Andy Haslam: “The DB9 has righty been positioned at the hub of our GT segment offerings for some years now. The introduction of this significantly enhanced car means Aston Martin buyers have a very clear and compelling model line-up from which to choose.”

“Taking the best elements of Virage, adding important new updates and combining these with the iconic DB9 nomenclature, we have created a compelling new sports GT that sits proudly at the very heart of the Aston Martin sports range.”
The new model is identified by 20-inch diamond turned alloy wheels, pronounced rear boot ‘flip’ spoiler and clear LED rear lamp clusters.

Power from the 6-litre V12 has been upped to 510bhp courtesy of new engine variable valve timing technology developed for the upcoming Vanquish supercar. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 183mph.

The DB9 is also fitted with Carbon Ceramic Matrix disc brakes as standard, with callipers supplied by Brembo. These items are not only more resistant to brake fade, but also save around 12kg per corner, which aids handling and performance.

Customers will also benefit from Aston’s latest Adaptive Damping System, which allows Normal, Sport or Track mode to be selected from the dashboard. This is said to have a marked effect on comfort and handling precision.

The interior remains as customisable as ever, but new options include a reversing camera and two Carbon Packs – one interior and one exterior. Choose the interior pack and you get a new upper fascia, gear selector paddles and door pulls. The exterior pack includes a front splitter, rear diffuser, mirror arms and caps all finished in 2×2 twill carbon fibre with a clear lacquer, as well as tailpipes with a dark finish.

Aston Martin wings or the DB9 logo can be embroidered onto the headrests and leather headlining is also an option.

Available to order now, the 2013 Aston Martin DB9 will cost from £131,995.
